About Tom

“We tend to believe that taking food seriously is the exclusive domain of those who are affluent and well-educated.”-Tracie McMillan.

I’d like to counter this thought.

I’m Tommy Werner, an aspiring journalist and recreational chef. I love whimsy, making meals, and chatting with other dorks like me.

Food to me is more than taste-it’s a collection of music, character, and friends. Table Scraps is all about the feelings, creativity, and ideas behind restaurants and home cooking experiments. This blog isn’t an exclusive domain filled with snooty terms. It’s where I’d like to share what’s awesome about eating, from holes-in-walls to toads-in-holes.

Have you ever noticed how great peanut butter and jelly is? Regardless of everything you’ve ever tried? Exactly.

I work with feature writing and have been doing journal-writing and compulsive list-making. I’m unsure what the future holds for the journalism field, but nonetheless I’m pretty excited. I’m hoping this blog serves as a way to bring some of my interests into one place. That just might be the best thing about journalism.

I have a page on YELP! that I add to as often as I can. You can also follow me on Twitter @tommy_91 and on Instagram @wernurd

Now. Let’s get cooking.

I love peanut butter AND jelly … but not together. Uh oh! But apart from that (haha) I love your intro and your blog! I especially like your name in tomato sauce. V. original 😀
